The Power of Design to Evangelize

Design is powerful. This mission has been the driving force behind every product, from Bible tabs to apparel. Now, as part of a new partnership with The Catholic Company, we are thrilled to continue this work with even greater reach. By combining our creative spirit with their operational strength, we can bring more faith-filled designs to life and serve the Catholic community in ways we've only dreamed of.

About the Founder

Katerina is the founder and creative force behind Little Way Design Co. What began as a small design studio run from her home outside of Pittsburgh, PA, has now blossomed into a new chapter through a partnership with The Catholic Company, a family-owned business based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Originally from the Caribbean Coast of Venezuela, Katerina is a chemical engineer by trade, a Benedictine Oblate, and a mother of five. In 2012, while staying home with her first child, she taught herself graphic design during nap times. Her dream was to use her skills to represent her deep Catholic faith. In 2017, on the feast day of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, she took a leap of faith and officially opened Little Way Design Co.

After years of lovingly hand-packing every order, Katerina realized that for Little Way to continue its mission, it needed to grow beyond what one person could manage. She prayed for a path forward, and the Lord answered.

Today, Katerina continues in her role as Founder and Creative Director for Little Way Design Co., now with the full support of The Catholic Company's team. This partnership allows her to focus entirely on what she does best: creating beautiful, faith-filled designs that will inspire the Catholic community for years to come. Her work, influenced by Scandinavian folk art and 19th-century Catholic engravings, will not only continue on the Little Way Design site but will also be featured in new products available through The Catholic Company. The creative spirit and mission remain the same, now powered by a collaboration that ensures this important work will continue to flourish.

Why "Little Way"?

"The Little Way is the way of faithfulness and love in the small things of every day."

--Mark and Louise Zwick, founders of the Houston Catholic Worker

"God would never inspire me with desires which cannot be realized; so, in spite of my littleness, I can hope to be a Saint. I could never grow up. I must put up with myself as I am, full of imperfections, but I will find a little way to Heaven, very short and direct, an entirely new way."

--St. Thérèse of Lisieux

The Little Way to heaven is the way of faithfulness to the cross of Christ in the daily mundane events of our life. In the mess of our imperfections, like St. Thérèse notes in the quote above. There is no Little Way without taking up our daily cross. We cannot forget that is exactly the greatness of the spirituality of St. Thèrése: her faithfulness in the little things despite her difficult circumstances.

Because in the present moment--what lies right in front of us, regardless of how insignificant, tedious, or dull it may be--is our key to holiness. Our Little Way to heaven.

I am forever grateful to the great doctor of the Church, St. Thérèse of Lisieux, for showing us the "little way" to heaven as a possible means to walk closer with God during our time of exile.

Thank you for appreciating my designs and for making them part of your life as we walk together in this pilgrimage.
